There are so many ingredients used in mineral makeup. Little more knowledge about the components should need to learn. I observed in my research in each product ingredient does not have some form of use.
Mineral makeup doesn’t contain what people like to call ‘’Fillers’’
Mineral ingredients are conventional products such as- ‘’Titanium dioxide, Zinc oxide, Mica and Iron oxides’’. Mineral makeup consists of minerals which are pulverized and sterilized powder form. 100% micronized minerals so there is no chance of inflammation or irritation to the skin.
Mica- Mica is one the naturally occurring crystallized minerals, comprise with group pf thin, separated sheets. To add luminescent shine to the product, it is available in variety colors like pale green to black and also colorless.
Some companies use it in their foundation formulas. Sericite is the pure version of mica and derived from the mineral muscovite mica. It is crushed and purified to fine powder, provides a fine shimmer or low luster effect. Their glittering properties allow them to usage in cosmetics to add shine and shimmer. It’s also used in mineral eye shadows. Mica provides natural glow on skin, pure pigments that offer a translucent natural tone in makeup.
Problem- People with oily skin may not like it due to make shiner look on oily areas. Mica has some trouble that it shows every wrinkle and may make large pore on face. In rare amount of people have reaction to mica powder.

Titanium dioxides- This is the major components in many mineral makeup. It occurs naturally. It is refined to from a light powder and reflects only light. Titanium dioxide is used in cosmetics as a high coverage powder. It makes available a high level of ultra violet protection. This compound is the first choice of lots powerful sunscreens.

Problem- Titanium dioxide use as sunscreen have to coat with Silica or Alumina, otherwise it create radicals in the photolytic reaction. Ultra fine Titanium dioxide dust may cause respiratory tract cancer.

Zinc oxide is synthesized in the lab but titanium comes from natural way it start out with natural titanium, it also go through lab process for extraction and purification. In nature titanium is contaminated with things like mercury and lead so there is no natural pure source of titanium to be used in cosmetics.
Absolutely necessary to check both of them are listed as active ingredients, SPF 15 0r greater
Zinc Oxide- A naturally occurring salt with medicinal properties used to relax the skin. Another major ingredient in minerals, also gives protection against UVA/UVB light. It is an anti- inflammatory which means if any one suffers from Rosacea this make doesn’t make any harm.

Iron Oxides- Naturally occurring salt, purified to produce a variety of earthy tones, colors. The color of Mineral makeup’s achieved by using pure iron which absorbs heat. These fine and smooth powders generates three main color groups:- Red, Yellow and Black. Cosmetics grade Iron oxide are oxidized to remove heavy metals may be harmful.

Bismuth Oxychloride- It is used as inexpensive filler, bismuth is heavy mineral and pearlizing ingredient and appearing ‘prettier’ look. A by products of lead and copper mixes with chloride, use as cheap filler and offer luminosity, sheen to the makeup.

Parabens- Most interesting things is this compound used in millions of cosmetics products-: as a methylparaben, propyl-paraben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, benzylparaben. All these are toxic chemicals that seep into tissue. Paraben have been linked to cancer.

Silicone, Dimethicone are filler allow to skin smoother but they coat the skin so anything can trapping beneath it & skin can't breathe, it act like plastic wrapping.
Silica- Silica is absorbent and used for oil control in products. Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and has great light scattering properties. It can keep makeup on longer & has been successfully used in hypoallergenic and allergy tested formulations.
Be alert & ensure the makeup free from crystalline/amorphous hydrated silica
Amorphous Hydrated Silica is particular silica may be contaminated with small amounts of crystalline quartz. Carcinogenic is considered due to the crystalline quartz silica. |

Cornstarch- Cornstarch is listed as ‘Zea Mays’ in some label. It is provide texture in skin. Cornstarch is a vegetable starch and has a shelf life. This is a main ingredient in many mineral veils. Health experts say powder made with cornstarch is safe, but it’s not offer better adhesion and no protection from UV rays. If makeup product contain cornstarch then there is chance of no expire date.It has moisture absorbing properties so when apply it feels smooth & dry skin.
If you prefer cornstarch, make ensure the product you purchase have an expiration date on them.

Ultramarine Colors- To cool down Foundation some ultramarine colors are employed. They are used for eye and cheek colors. United State most ultramarine colors are not approved for use on lips- Remind it.
